FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If this is the first time you are learning about Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST), it's normal to have questions! Peruse through my most frequently asked questions below, or contact me directly and I'll do my best to answer any questions for you!
Q: DOES IT HURT?
A: Nope! FST is very gentle and pain free.
Q: WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
A: We will talk through your medical history, what you're feeling in your body presently and what your goals are. After we'll go through a few assessments and then into the stretch. During the session the therapist will help direct your breath to synchronize with the stretch, allowing the body and nervous system to fully relax.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A CANCELLATION POLICY?
A: Yes. For any cancellations made the day before your scheduled stretch you will be charged 50% of the session. For cancellations made the day of your scheduled stretch you will be charged for the full price of your session.
Q: HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GO?
A: It depends on what your body needs and what your goals are. I always suggest starting with three or four sessions close together to jump-start the process. As always, you will see faster results the more frequently you go.
Q: IS IT ONLY FOR ATHLETES?
A: Nope! FST is for everyone. Whether you're a professional athlete looking to enhance your performance, or you're recovering from surgery/injury and want to speed up the recovery process, or you just want to increase mobility, de-stress and feel completely relaxed and wonderful...this is for you.
Q: WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER MY STRETCH SESSION?
A: If possible, I recommend scheduling your session for a time after you've completed any strenuous workouts for the day, or on your day off. Taking it easy afterwards allows the session to fully settle into your body, creating a longer lasting result.
Q: WHAT IS FASCIA?
A: Fascia is your connective tissue system. It is a spider web of fibrous, gluey, wet connective tissue that binds and holds everything in your body in it's proper placement. There are many different factors that can effect the form of fascia, injury, stress, dehydration, what kind of lifestyle you live etc.
Q: WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
A: Comfortable yoga/gym clothes to allow complete range of motion. Compression shorts are a good idea for guys, and clean socks are a nice touch.
Q: WHEN WILL I START SEEING RESULTS?
A: You can expect to start seeing results between one to three sessions. Most clients will notice a difference within the first session.
Q: WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
A: FST is very gentle and relaxing. You will feel a light pulling of the stretch and the release throughout the body as we allow the fascia to adjust back into correct alignment. Many times clients will even fall asleep during the session!
Q: CAN I STILL GO IF I'M INJURED?
A: Yes you can. In fact, coming in for a session can even help to speed up the recovery process. Definitely let your Stretch Therapist know what's going on beforehand when you book your stretch.
